Meet Ugandan Prophet that got his shoes kissed by his church members

He went viral after a photo of his congregants kissing his shoes surfaced.

While many simply reacted to the photo, others couldn't help but wonder who this preacher is.

Here is all you need to know about him.

1. He is a self-proclaimed prophet: Mbonye was born on March 27, 1977into a family of seven. He had a normal childhood until he was reportedly saved in 1998 after “an awe-provoking encounter with the Person of the Holy Spirit,” according to his site, prophetelvis.com. This stripped him of his old self and a prophet with the gift of unusual dreams, visions and prophetic revelations.

In his words, “I bowed down to pray. I remember asking the Lord to forgive me, and seconds later, I started speaking in a language I didn’t know. I was very shocked. I tried to hold my tongue to speak slowly in English but it just twisted and I continued to speak in tongues.

“I had a vision of God calling me to be a prophet. I attended Victory City Church, Kitintale where the pastor and elders noticed my gift and put me in leadership. After campus, I had a job offer but after fasting and praying for three days, the Lord showed me my destiny as a prophet.

“The Lord started meeting me on a personal level. I used to go in isolated places to pray on the hills or deserted houses just to avoid interaction and understand more of the Lord.”

Eventually, he founded the Zoe Fellowship in 2014 with the organisation of quarterly conferences in Kampala. Matooke Republic reports that the conference started with about 100 people. It has grown a lot since then.

2. He has been to Heaven: The prophet has discussed his various heavenly encounters. During these moments, Mbonye says his spirit leaves his physical body and he is transported elsewhere. This is why his members kiss his shoes. They do this to get the blessings he got from walking in Heaven.

3. He makes a lot of prophecies: Mbonye has made a name for himself with his accurate prophecies (he is also known as “Mr Future”). These include “predicting the exact date of the 2004 Tsunami (26th December) 3 months prior to the disaster, and the 2010 Uganda terrorist bombings and numerous other prophecies." These were done before the many attendants to his weekly prophetic fellowships. This explains why his Facebook page, @prophetelvis, calls him “the prophet with an unprecedented record of prophetic fulfillments!!!”

4. He has an interesting ideology on wealth: The prophet has been attacked for his flashy lifestyle. He dresses really well and recently exchanged his sleek BMW X6 for a 2017 Range Rover Sport. Despite what critics are saying, Mbonye refuses to apologise for this.

His reason is that he has been to Heaven. In his words, “The Lord showed me hell and the people who went there. Hell is stuffy, poor, sickly, and degrading. I have been to heaven and it is a glamorous place with streets of gold. All attributes about God are glamour and beauty and I’m of God, so I will unapologetically be always on the side of what is rich. You want me to be in a car where I sweat?” The worlds’ richest pastor, Edir Macedo, holds a similar view.

5. He is a televangelist: The prophet can be seen on TV on the Propeshy show on NTV. More people get to hear about his prophecies through this medium.

6. He is also an author: The prophet has written a book called ‘Let the Prophets Speak.’ This was followed by another one on his experiences, testimonies and revelations. The book, ‘Tasting the Powers Of the Age To Come’, was published in June 2012.

7. There are many controversies surrounding him: A lot has been said about the prophet's source of power. Some argue that he is a member of the Illuminati. To these, he says, “Some of them say the powers I use to prophesy are from the devil. But I just forgive them because most of them don’t know what they are talking about.”

The 41-year-old is married to a businesswoman named Harriet. Surprisingly, she has never attended any of his fellowships. Th prophet has declared that his wife still follows his fellowships. He said, “But she [Harriet] follows the fellowships on TV at home. She may want to be public but I think this is not the right time. The Lord has not shown me that.”

It goes without saying that he is worth a lot and has a large number of devoted followers.
