Just like the book of proverbs says, “Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.” (Proverbs 20:3)
Quarreling is worth nothing to a Christian
“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.”
The truth is it can be really hard, to not reply someone who has continuously called your bluff, but instead of replying the person in the tone he is probably using or expecting, address the issue (state your points) without resentment.
People quarrel for so many reasons, some because they are used to it, others to boost their self-worth. But really should your self-worth be measured based on how resentful you can be when you get into a fight, or how stronger you are than the opponent or even how much of a bully you are?
This not mean you should not stand up for what you believe in, it simply means you should learn to agree and respect other opinions too.
Proverbs 17: 14, “starting a quarrel is like a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out.’
