To raise awareness for the Global Day against Homophobia on the 17th of May, 2015, various ceremonies have been lined up by gay rights activists in Cuba.
Protestant clergymen bless gay couples
The ceremony which had all the trappings of a wedding, was sponsored by the daughter of Cuban President- Raul Castro.

Mariela Castro, President Castro’s daughter, is the head of the Center for Sex Education, an organisation that has been pushing for the recognition of gay people in Cuba.
Although homosexuality is illegal in Cuba, the campaign for gay rights received a boost when Fidel Castro said he regretted the way he treated gays during his time as President.
