Prophet Arrested For Robbery In Ekiti

The prophet also confessed to selling stolen cars

A self-acclaimed prophet, Taiwo Afolabi has been arrested as part of an 8-man gang allegedly specialized robbery and car-snatching.

40-year-old Pastor Afolabi and his gang were apprehended by the police along Ogotun- Igbaraodo Road, and were paraded by the police’s Swift Response Squad (SRS) as they could identify themselves convincingly.

According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, investigation by the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) showed that the gang was a car-snatching syndicate from whom the police had earlier recovered a Green Toyota Camry marked ET 241 AAA.

In a chat with newsmen, pastor Afolabi said all vehicles received from Wasiu and Abdulkareem who were leaders of the gang and were delivered to one Ajilumo Emmanuel, a dealer, to sell to interested buyers.

“Since they have been bringing cars to me to sell, I never asked them whether the cars were stolen goods or not. But the last one they brought that I could not sell in time put me in this trouble, because the engine was faulty and we could no dispose of it as quick as possible,” Afolabi said.
