According to an official statement released to punch Nigeria, by the organisers of the annual educational event for secondary school students,this year’s edition will be keenly contested due to the amount of entries they have received so far.
This year’s essay competition which is the 12th edition will see students write an essay of not more than 2000 words on the topic: The Nigerian Political Class and the Citizens Quest for Good Governance.
Festus Onyeisi a spokeman for the organisers of the event stated that the 2015 edition is special because it coincides with the 70th birthday celebration of the sponsor Bishop Mike Okonkwo- the founder and the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission.
He also stated that the competition will develop in the students, the ability to think through issues, as well as to develop their analytical and problem-solving skills.
The cash prizes to be won range from 50,000 Naira to 100,00 Naira.
Bishop Mike Okonkwo will present the prizes to the various category of winners during his annual lecture slated to hold on September 3, 2015 at the Muson Centre, Lagos.
