CAN to resolve leadership crisis threatening to tear church apart
Reports say the church has two factions headed by the alleged suspended former Superintendent, Paul Emeka, and his former assistant, Chidi Okoroafor
Since early last year, it would be recalled that the pentecostal church has been embroiled in leadership crisis which has nearly divided the church into factions.
Reports say the church has two factions each having its national leadership (Superintendent) with followership spread in all parts of the country, headed by the alleged suspended former Superintendent, Paul Emeka, and his former assistant, Chidi Okoroafor.
An anonymous top ranking officer in the Paul Emeka faction spoke to Daily Independent in Abuja saying that the optimism being expressed on the resolution of the crisis is due to the fact that the national body of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has waded into the crisis in an effort to end it.
“By the grace of God the crisis we are having in our leadership will soon be resolved. This is because CAN has intervened and is going to meet with both leadership of the two factions on January 27 to resolve the issue.
“On our part, our faction (Paul Emeka) is meeting this week so that we can look at the conditions given by CAN and make our final decision.
“I must tell you that if the conditions given by CAN is not good for us, we will resist it. But we are believing God that the truth must prevail.
“I pray the leadership of the Chidi Okorafor faction will be open to discussions so that this crisis is resolved once and for all for the interest of the church.
“We tired of this crisis and some of our members are leaving the church. I am particularly not happy about the whole thing. The leaders must humble themselves, make sacrifices and resolve the issue for the growth of the church,” the official said.
