THE INK reports that  Edet met his wife, Inyene, last year. Sources say the two met for the first time when she came on his Grace and Inspiration radio show on Planet FM on May 3, 2017.

She was the show to discuss a programme tagged “Understanding your Calling as a Music Minister” holding at her school, University of Uyo.

Father Edet was a speaker at the programme, which held at Victory Chapel on May 7, 2017.

Weeks after the programme, Edet reportedly invited her to speak at his inaugural programme, ‘Youth Summit.’

These interactions laid the foundation for their relationship which blossomed after he left the priesthood.

When news of Edet’s resignation broke, there were speculations that there was a woman involved.

These rumors were vehemently denied by the former priest, who maintained that he was leaving in order to be free.

In his words, “I forgive those who will criticize me. I live for God…I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling, I AM SO HAPPY THAT I AM FREE.”

“The reason I am doing this is that I want to be right with God first. I want to go to heaven when I die. It is not the Church that called me, it is God who called me that is above the Church, and my interest is to be right with Him first and have peace with Him first," he added.
