Governor Okorocha, Yakubu Dogara commend sultan on 10th coronation anniversary

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, is celebrating the 10th year anniversary of his coronation.

As such, there have been congratulations and commendations from notable personalities, including Governor Rochas Okorocha and House of Representatives speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara.

In a press release, issued through his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, the Imo state governor had a lot of nice things to say about the Sultan, Vanguard reports.

Okorocha praised the sultan's efforts towards promoting unity and peace in the country.

"The story of the unity of this great nation will not be complete without the noble name of the Sultan being prominently mentioned. He has diligently preached peace among Nigerians and religiously pursued the unity of this country.

As the Sultan celebrates this legendary event, the prayers of Nigerians of goodwill should be that the Almighty God would continue to keep him and grant him more inspiring anniversaries in the years ahead," he said.

According to the National Mirror, House of Representatives speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara, had similar things to say in a statement, released by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan.

Describing the sultan's 10 years reign as “eventful and beneficial to 2016the country and humanity’’, Dogara went on to list the many achievements of the religious leader.

“May I note that in the last 10 years on the throne of his forefathers, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar has demonstrated exemplary leadership and lived above board, while remaining as the rallying point for his subjects.

As a spiritual leader and custodian of culture and tradition, the Sultan has played significant roles in the promotion of inter-faith dialogue and harmony.

He has also helped socio-cultural cooperation, communal leaving and peaceful co-existence among diverse peoples,” he added.

The Sultan has made a name for himself by fighting religious intolerance, fighting marginalisation of Muslims, and ultimating promoting peace and unity in the country.
