Hello and welcome to a ‘Piece of Peace’, your weekly dose of motivation and inspiration. This week I would like to share with you on the topic of “The Bright Idea in the Dark”. This week’s topic is inspired by my first ever article to be published in Forbes Africa and tells the story of the entrepreneurial journey of Mr Fred Degbe, the founder and CEO of Heel the world, Ghana’s first premium luxury leather brand.

The true essence of an entrepreneur lies in someone who is willing to take risks and this is something that I feel Fred’s story encapsulated. When listening to his story, I saw someone who had a dream, a goal and a purpose. He wanted to show the world that high-end luxury products could indeed be manufactured in Ghana. Like many great minds, he initially faced the all-knowing NO! He made me realise that we all face different challenges in our individual journeys to success. Sometimes when you are on that long road, it may feel like you are the only one going through difficulties. I have been there several times.

Unflinching in his resolve to prove his critics wrong, Fred staked everything into his dream. It shows that in order for you to grow into the purpose God has outlined for you, you need to commit everything you have to His plan. If you are not willing to lose, how can you expect to gain in his blessings?  The only person who is qualified to tell you that you cannot do something is you. You are what you think. That means whether you think you can, or whether you think you cannot, you are right in both instances.

God has given you the ability to prove your critics wrong. But the amazing thing about God’s plan is, when he decides to move in your life, he makes it possible for you to deal with all the ups and downs that come with that change. Believe in him and trust the process. Before anything great happens, you will have to go through discomfort. Remember always to be yourself, because everyone else is taken.
