Milli is really really good

This is a blogpost by Duru Enyinna... Music, just like any other thing in life, needs a little nuance now and then to appeal to a younger generation.

Milli

Most times they don’t even need to tell you, you just have to give it to them and watch their eyes light up like they just found gold.

Anyhow sha, I was just minding my business online as usual and I came across an article about former Choc Nation’s new artiste, Milli,  I just had to take a peep, what else was I supposed to do?

I automatically put him under the 'I just got back' artiste category. The Dude just had this weird cool whole new vibe; you know that 'I’m-not-from-around-here' vibe.

I shock say na lere guy sef. I don’t know if I wasn’t paying much attention to him or he wasn’t putting out records, but I just knew there was a Milli guy in Choc Nation.

In my mind, I was like “Hin de CBN nau, en go de alright” but as usual, I know nothing.

Heard a couple of his verses and the song with Ycee, 'Yoruba demon', I thought they were decent and a breath of fresh air.

I agree, Milli is a member of the new school Nigerian vibe. I remember him being one of the first people on that dab movement.

Dude is like the voice of the cool kids, just like Naeto C back in 2008. The 7-track E.P is really good I must say. It sounds nothing like typical Nigerian music, its solid.

It’s a 'just press play' kind of E.P, you don’t have to skip any track.

These are interesting times in Nigerian music because more artistes are putting body of work together instead of just singles.

My personal favorite off the E.P is ‘Jealous’, I just love the vibe. ‘Unlooking’ video was also really really cool. It’s really exciting to see people with this much creativity trying to bend rules and do something different in this stereotyped industry.

Such people should not be held back or discouraged at all, they should instead be imitated and duplicated in various different styles.

Fast forward the whole drama with CBN, I’m not asking what happened, I don’t know who acted childish but I think you did what was best for you and your career and we all respect that. I really hope you and your team keep it coming.
