Hope speaks the truth

We should begin to settle on more pressing issues in this nation and stop being distracted by little things.

Moments are created, bad, worse, destructive, creative or in between. All of which culminates to create one thing. Nigeria.

I decided to shut the mouth of my pen from speaking on the day green white green celebrated her 56th birthday, so many pains and fears to express, as well as hopes to impress yet I held his eager mouth and severed it from his emotions and gluttony for national tranquillity that it has no medium to tell the tales, those stories of how our jeun kooku leaders have made a “mario” of the national honey and milk, the never seceding gluttons who feast on the good of the land on which the blood of patriots have been spilled.

Something funny happened few days ago, an extreme aberration from those who have been appointed to serve as guards, protectors and defenders of the citizens of our nation, to fight for the weak and defend the defenceless but have now turned themselves to terrorists and oppressors.

I found myself in Guaranty Trust Bank on that day; (yes, I did not go to the bank oh, I found myself in the bank). This is the kind of statement our veritable infamous senator will make, one whose name I will not mention for the sake of “padding”.

I was seated at the reception, waiting on the long queue to get to my turn for my transaction; I had my ears plugged with Fela’s Lady blaring into my ear drums into my heart. I suddenly sighted a military official pass by me, he headed to the teller’s desk, I saw her direct him towards where I was seated, patiently waiting.

He headed towards where I was seated amongst other patient people as well, people who also had other pressing things to do. A tall, muscular man, wearing an army uniform with his intimidating boots sat beside me to wait.

Some minutes later, the teller summoned the next person, to my greatest dismay, this soldier stood up, heading towards the desk for transaction, one man tried to voice his discontent against such act but as the proverbs, “whoever hits the hive of a bee is definitely seeking for something he won’t be able to handle”.

Immediately, the soldier decided to exert his power on a bloody civilian like they will call him. I heard a dirty slap land on the fair left cheek of this seeming human right advocate.

The atmosphere became dead silent that if a pin had fallen, its sound would have been as loud as the falling of a stainless plate. The military man went on to transact his business. After his transaction, he walked out majestically, with poise and unabashed conscience.

There was uproar and an uninterrupted hullaballoo after he had gone.

“What is the meaning of this, stupid people?" a woman asked angrily.

The slapped man, began ranting, threatening while well-wishers showered him with sorries, placating his pain.

I sat puzzled at first, but after Mr Soldier had left, I wore laughter like a garment as I stared and listened to the whole drama that was happening in the banking hall.

I completed my transaction then headed for the exit, overcome with a burdensome sense of worry; what exactly is happening to us? Where have we kept our conscience, our humanity and sense of reason? Have we suddenly become animals? So sardonic!

Well that’s not why my pen is bleeding.

I greet Mr Gulliver. I heard tourism has reduced and they have decided to settle in their father’s land as their household ant has begun to itch their buttocks. The most interesting part of it is thatOur Lady; The First has resumed her duty to the kitchen, the living room and definitely the other room where she belongs to. PALA PALA ILU APALA.

It is so unfortunate that such an abashing statement could be uttered by a man who several are looking up to for change and a positive reality.

What frivolous statement uttered in an utter state of ignorance and traditional mind set and preoccupation. As a matter of fact, why the need to make such private statement in a public sphere where all eyes seems to be on you for hope to spearhead a better nation, a laudable Nigeria but all we hear is private frivolities and excesses.

Chief leader of green white green, if you care to know sir, we are scared, fear grips us at every word the news speaks, every news we receive is no longer new but multi dimensions of the same story, occurrence, fears and threats.

Our economy is shambles

Our security is weak

Our educational system is depleting

Corruption still persists, not at the upper sphere alone but also at lower cadres of administration.

These things are enough to bridle your tongue, brand your thoughts with the burden of this nation, words are good they soothe the mind, but actions make the heart merry.

What we have before us is more than the giddy and frivolous response to your wife’s sincere and dauntless statement; a reflection of truth and deep nationalism, an admirable patriotism for the nation.

What’s before us sir calls for an inquiry on the inside of us, the strength we need is not outside the shores of green white green but inside.

And to Our Lady, the First, I commend her strength and boldness to stand in public to speak the truth which was majorly about Nigeria, I appreciate the fact that she was able to separate both personalities; the president and the husband.

On the other hand, to our ministers and other leaders who have decided to seek nothing but the downfall of this great nation I say well done, keep at it, the day of reckoning is near.

For those whose hope and faith in this nation still wax strongly and unfading, keep fuelling it with the positivity of a better Nigeria, one with power, strength, vigour to stand firm in the rigours of pessimisms and negative impressions.

I still love Nigeria

I still believe in Nigeria
