Slated to hold at the Oriental Hotel on Thursday, December 1, 2022, the NHF will provide a platform for government agencies, captains of industries and other stakeholders in the build sector to come together and chart a course for affordable housing for everyday Lagosians.
The NHF is making its debut in Lagos having previously had six years consecutive run in Abuja with amazing success stories and testimonies.
Tapping into the glamour and spontaneity the city is reputed for, the firm has promised to throw an event befitting the profile of the state.
At a recent media briefing, the the Convener, Dr. Becky Olubukola, said the NHF is geared towards exploring the several untapped opportunities in the housing sector in the state.
It's estimated that more than 500,000 people troop into Lagos every year, this development coupled with the prevalent high poverty rate in the country as well as bureaucratic bottlenecks have made house ownership in the city expensive and cumbersome.
To tackle this headlong, Olubukola said the government and private sector players must collaborate to make affordable housing available for the masses.
She also called on governments at all levels to come with laws that can regulate and power the housing sector in order to unleash its huge potentials.
Olubukola said, if properly harnessed, the housing sector has the potential to bring unemployment rate down by 30 per cent, adding that five out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be achieved through the sector.
Speaking on the upcoming event, the CEO said participants will benefit from similar success recorded in previous editions in Abuja where plots of land, electronics and other gift items were handed out.
She disclosed that different housing schemes have been designed for people from different social strata to acquire and spread out payment as they deem convenient.
Such schemes include Medical Homes, Trader schemes, and Not too young to own a house for people between 16-35 years old.
