Mayweather has not been in action since his victory over UFC star Conor McGregor in the crossover boxing fight in August 2017.
The 41-year-old who remains unbeaten in all of his 50 career fights has been linked with a move to mixed martial arts to fight McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedovbut the American has announced that he will face a kickboxer instead.
After signing with Japanese mixed martial arts promotions company RIZIN Fighting Federation, Mayweather said his new move is to expand his global brand.
“I wanted to do something different. I wanted to display my skills outside the US and be in a special fight,” he said at a press conference in Tokyo on Monday, November 5.
“I spoke with my team and with RIZIN and we put it together.
“I have fought in the US for all 50 of my fights. As a professional, I haven't had a chance to go outside the US to display my skills and to display my talent for the world.
“'I look forward to giving you guys entertainment come December 31, but my relationship with RIZIN, it doesn’t stop just here. I look forward to taking this worldwide.”
It is not known yet how much Mayweather will earn in the fight or what rules will be in places when he faces the 20-year-old Nasukawa.
He, however, insists that he can fight under any format.
Nasukawa competes in RIZIN championships in both MMA and pure kickboxing and has won all four of his MMA fights and has 27 wins out of 27 in kickboxing, 21 coming by knock-out.
