Retailer Wren Kitchens has taken the recommended daily intake (RDI) of fat, sugar, and salt for the average adult and calculated what this looks like in terms of portions of popular everyday items.

It found that just one McDonald's Big Tasty burger with bacon and large fries contains more than your recommended daily intake of fat, while just one venti Starbucks chai latte would cost you nearly half your RDI of sugar.

Perhaps more surprisingly they discovered that there was more salt in two slices of buttered wholemeal toast than a 50g bag of salted peanuts.
