Nigeria start-ups gained global recognition at the F8 Conference

Nigerian tech-startups win big at this year's Facebook F8 Conference.

The conference is an annual event organized by Facebook to showcase innovative products and services and build a global communities of tech developers. The F8 conference usually host more than 4000 people in person and hundreds of thousands of people watching via Facebook Live for two days of new products, tools, interactive demos and speakers to help developers build, grow and monetise their apps.

This year’s edition of the F8 conference was viewed across the world through the various F8 Meetups. These Meetups live streamed the conference to their team of local developers in African cities of Nairobi, Lagos, and Cape Town.

Emeka Afigbo, Facebook’s Head of Platform Partnerships for the Middle East and Africa, stated that “we’re partnering with many African developers to launch products that not only meet the needs of their local markets, but which are also ready for the world stage.”

As importantly, they are a forum for us to get feedback from our ecosystem and to showcase our partners’ work to the world.”Some selected African based tech-startups participated in various sessions of the conference, while other won awards for their innovation solutions to generic problems within their environment.
