Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos won't take your return, even if you ask him nicely.

One shareholder learned that the hard way. During the question-and-answer session at the company's annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday, an unnamed shareholder and apparent customer tried to return a package directly to Bezos.

"Can you please return this for me?" the video starts out with the shareholder asking.

"Yeah, sure," Bezos replies. "We'll help you with that right after the meeting."

Amazon is working with the customer directly to handle the issue.

"My apologies that you had to use this unusual venue to accomplish what should have been a routine task," Bezos continued. "We'll also look into the root cause of why that happened."

"Anybody else have anything they need to return?" Bezos finished, to laughter from the audience.

Returns to Amazon are usually done through the company's website or mobile app. Customers answer a few questions about why they are returning the item, and if it's a discretionary return, they pay a shipping fee to send it back to the company.
