Neymar answered booing Paris Saint-Germain fans on Saturday by scoring an injury-time overhead kick to secure a 1-0 win over RC Strasbourg.

The Brazilian has missed PSG's first five games of the season, and was given an unwelcome reception by fans upon his return to the team at the weekend.

Le Parc des Princes rang out with jeers as Neymar's name was announced in the starting XI, as well as numerous times throughout the game.

Boos from the crowd were silenced however in the 92nd minute when the 27-year-old connected with Abdou Diallo's whipped cross to score a stunning scissor kick to earn a much needed three points for the Ligue 1 champions.

"It is not the first time I have been booed by everyone," Neymar told reporters after the game, according to the BBC.

"It is sad but I know that, from now on, every game I play will be an away game."

Prior to Saturday's match, Neymar last played for PSG 162 days ago a period in which the Brazil international has been continually linked with a move away from the club.

Neymar was told he was free to leave Paris during the summer by club sporting director Leonardo, who said: "Neymar can leave PSG if there is an offer that suits everyone."

FC Barcelona came closest to taking him away from his Parisian nightmare, however, were unable to match PSG's demands, with the French club looking to recoup most of the $263 million they paid for him in 2017 .

PSG next play Real Madrid, who were also linked with a move for Neymar this summer , in the Champions League on Wednesday.
