Nigerian-born Boxing Champion to tour Nigeria in August

This is the first trip of Anthony Joshua to Nigeria after winning the heavyweight belt in May, 2017. He has been considered a role to many young Nigerians.

This tour is expected to last for three days and take place in August 2017.

According to the tour organiser, Mr Khomeini Bukhari in a statement released on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, all arrangements had been concluded for his homecoming.

Mr Bukhari further revealed that the boxing champion would be visiting the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Governors of Lagos and Ogun states.

During the tour,  he would also visits some royal fathers in Southwest Nigeria.

"This event is part of his (Joshua's) social corporate responsibility and duty to give back to Nigeria where he is the son of the soil. Part of the tour will be to visit the Presidency, some state governors as well as pay his respects to the royal fathers.

"I have secured the endorsement and support of several notable people in Nigeria and I'm very positive that this event will be by far the biggest event in Nigeria in a very long time."

A charity boxing match and Inspire Nigeria 2017 in the line of programmes for the champion during this tour.

The organiser further explained that Inspire Nigeria 2017 is an event Joshua is expected to use to encourage Nigerian youths towards pursuing their dreams and aspirations.
