LONDON — Theresa May's keynote speech on the government's new measures for tackling the national housing crisis was somewhat overshadowed on Monday morning by the set designer's strange choice of backdrop.
Theresa May's big housing speech was ruined by a fake brick wall
The prime minister quickly became the subject of numerous memes.
Speaking in central London, the prime minister told industry leaders that she would increase the number of affordable homes by re-writing planning rules to ensure future building rates match the number of planning permissions.
However, while May wanted all eyes to be on her new housing policies, people watching the speech were distracted by the large mock-up brick wall displayed behind her.
