Wolff, the author of a controversial tell-all book about the Trump White House, wrote that Haley had spent "a notable amount of private time" with the president.

MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski forced journalist Michael Wolff of her show, " target="_blank"Morning Joe," on Thursday after Wolff, the author of the incendiary and lightly sourced tell-all book" target="_blank"Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," denied accusing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley of having an affair with the president.

During an appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher" last month, Wolff suggested that President Donald Trump is having an extramarital affair and told the audience to "read between the lines" of a certain passage in his book. People then latched on to a paragraph in the book that said Haley spent "a notable amount of private time" with Trump.

"I'm gonna go as far as to say that you might be having a fun time playing a little game dancing around this, but you're slurring a woman, it's disgraceful," Brzezinski said.

"She has been accused of nothing," Wolff replied. "She has decided to deny what she has not been accused of."

"Are you kidding? You're on the set of Morning Joe, we don't BS here," Brzezinski shot back. "I'm sorry, this is awkward — you're here on the set with us, but we're done."

The show then abruptly went to a commercial break.

Haley called the rumor "highly offensive," disgusting," and "absolutely not true" during an interview with a Politico last week, and added that she saw the suggestion as a personal attack.

"It goes to a bigger issue that we need to always be conscious of: At every point in my life, I've noticed that if you speak your mind and you're strong about it and you say what you believe, there is a small percentage of people that resent that and the way they deal with it is to try and throw arrows, lies or not," she said.
