Former interim Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile dismissed critics of her scathing new 2016 campaign memoir.

In an interview on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, Brazile brushed off Democrats telling her that she was reopening wounds of the 2016 Democratic primary, saying that if she had waited to release her book, Democrats would accuse her of impacting the 2018 midterm elections.

A longtime Democratic operative, Brazile was tapped to lead the embattled DNC after former chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in July after leaked internal emails that showed key members of her organization speaking critically of Sen. Bernie Sanders in his primary fight against Hillary Clinton.

In her new book set for release on Tuesday, Brazile has pulled few punches about the missteps of both the Clinton campaign and the DNC led by Wasserman Schultz.

"For those telling me to shut up, they told Hillary that a couple months ago. You know what I tell them? Go to hell," Brazile said Sunday. "I'm going to tell my story."

"Why am I supposed to be the only person who is unable to tell my story?" she added.

In the book, Brazile writes that she considered finding a replacement for Clinton when she struggled to walk at a 9/11 memorial service, lamented the lack of enthusiasm in Clinton's campaign headquarters in Brooklyn, and blamed Wasserman Schutz for allowing the Clinton campaign to essentially control the DNC's finances a year before she officially became the party's nominee.

Brazile has faced pushback from several former members of the Clinton campaign.

On Saturday, former top members of the campaign signed an open letter to the former interim DNC chair, saying they "do not recognize the campaign she portrays in the book."

"We are pretty tired of people who were not part of our campaign telling the world what it was like to be on the inside of our campaign and how we felt about it," the letter said.

During Sunday's interview, Brazile shot back, advising the former staffers to "take a page from Hillary's book" and write their own, if they are unsatisfied with her portrayal of the campaign.

"Hillary wrote a book, which I enjoyed reading," Brazile said. "It was part memoir; it was a history book. I loved reading her book. If they don't like my book, don't buy it."
