Lagos shuts down for President Buhari's first visit to metropolis in 3 years

In Lagos, President Buhari will commission some projects as well as attend the Bola Tinubu’s Colloquium.

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has arrived Lagos State for a 2-day official visit since his assumption of office in 2015.

To ease the traffic gridlock that will be associated with the President's two day official visit in the fast emerging metropolis, the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode had declared Thursday, March 29, 2018 a working free day on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.

According to the President's new media aide, Bashir Ahmed, in Lagos, President Buhari will commission some projects as well as attend the Bola Tinubu’s Colloquium.

One of the projects expected to be commissioned by the President in Lagos is the newly built and state of the art Ikeja Bus Terminal situated few minutes away from the Murtala Mohammed Local Airport and Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

President Buhari had not visited Lagos since assuming the office of the President of Nigeria in 2015.

His first official visit to the state in 2016 was cancelled as he was represented by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

It is believed in some political quarters that the President's visit to Lagos is not unconnected with his plans to woo more political big names to his side as visible cracks are beginning to show in the country's ruling party, APC.
