COVID-19: Senegalese president, Macky Sall, goes into quarantine after exposure

Senegal’s President Macky Sall has quarantined himself as a precaution after he came in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

A presidential statement said that even though President Sall tested negative for the virus he will self-isolate for two weeks.

A Senegalese lawmaker, Yeya Diallo, announced earlier on Wednesday that she had tested positive for the virus.

She called on the public to observe the measures needed to curb the spread of the virus. These include maintaining hygiene and social distancing.

Senegal has so far confirmed 6,129 cases of COVID-19 including 93 deaths.
