The 4 African universities that have produced the most billionaires on the African continent

This represents an additional 233 more than last year. Their riches accumulate to more than $7.67 trillion (£5.9 trillion).

Currently, there are 25 African billionaires, up from 24 last year. Nigerian businessmen Femi Otedola and Abdulsamad Rabiu failed to make the cut this year.

Mohammed Dewji of Tanzania is still the youngest billionaire in Africa with a fortune FORBES estimates at $1.09 billion.

Angolan investor Isabel dos Santos and oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija of Nigeria still remain the only two female billionaires on the continent.

Of the total number of billionaires in the world, 25 are Africans residents and almost all of them have been through a university. Our results reveal that very few of the continent's billionaires had their education on the African continent.

2. Stellenbosch University

Stellenbosch is a university town in South Africa's Western Cape province. It's surrounded by the vineyards of the Cape Winelands and the mountainous nature reserves of Jonkershoek and Simonsberg. Cape Dutch architecture gives a sense of South Africa's Dutch colonial history, as do the Village Museum's period houses and gardens.
