Sci-fi writer Nnedi Okorafor moves to debut Lagos in Marvel’s Venomverse series

This will surely encourage creation of more comic stories with Africa plot.

Lagos is the fifth largest economy in Africa.

The story which was written by Nigerian-American science fiction writer, Nnedi Okorafor will be the first comic series set in the Nigerian capital to be published by Marvel.

Okorafor, a 2016 winner of the Quartz Africa Innovator Awards, announced this on her twitter handle. The comic is titled "Blessing in Disguise".

According to Quartz Africa, the Venomverse series would replace the popular Spider-Verse which started in 2015. It will star characters like the Venom symbiote from Spiderman, Deadpool and Mary Jane.

Though not the first comic from Nneka, its adoption by Marvel attests to the quality of her work . HBO also announced in July that Who Fears Death is being converted into a TV series with the help of George R. R. Martins, the creator of Game of Thrones.
