Harvey Weinstein will spend tonight in a jail cell, after being convicted of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act .

Weinstein, 67, will remain in jail until he is sentenced on March 11, Insider reported. He faces up to 29 years in prison. Before the verdict was issued Monday morning, the disgraced film producer faced the prospect of being sentenced to life in prison. The jury acquitted Weinsteinof the most serious charge predatory sexual assault.

Weinstein's new life will be drastically different than his former one. As the film producer behind both Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company, Weinstein built an empire from scratch out of Buffalo, New York. He became a majorfundraiser for the Democratic Party , positioning himself as a liberal lion and champion of feminism.

But these ideals are in stark contrast to allegations of sexual harassment and rape from more than 80 women that span decades, leading to his ouster from the companies he founded and his eventual arrest, Business Insider reported. Prosecutors in both New York and California allege that the Weinstein used his position atop one of Hollywood's most powerful film studios to sexually harass and rape women for years.
