Nigeria's SGF organises compulsory retreat ahead of 2018 budget implementation

The SGF gave the directive saying the retreat would centre on the Public Procurement Act, 2017 and effective implementation of the 2018 budget.

Nigeria's Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has ordered key members of the civil service to attend a compulsory retreat ahead of the 2018 budget implementation.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Accounting officers of Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) have been ordered to attend the retreat in Abuja.

Mustapha also explained that the retreat was organised in conjunction with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

“The retreat is to ensure effective implementation of the 2018 budget.

“It will address all identified inadequacies or deficiencies in 2017, with a view to enhancing 2018 budget implementation,” a statement by Mr Lawrence Ojabo, Director, Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) said.

Expected to grace the retreat as the guest of honour is the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred E. Oyo-Ita.

The Head of the Nigerian Civil Service would be joined by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Alhaji Muhammad Bello, the Chief Host.
