It would be recalled that gunmen killed one policeman in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state and kidnapped three INEC ad hoc staff.

Katsina State Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isa, said in a statement that the victims were taken to Danmusa Hospital for medical attention and later reunited with their respective families.

He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the hoodlums.

<h1>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the presidential election result from Katsina State over alleged irregularities.</h1>

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and an indigene of the state, polled 1,232,133 votes to beat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who scored 303,056 votes in the poll.

Alhaji Salisu Majigiri, the state PDP Chairman, disclosed the party’s position at a news conference on Tuesday in Katsina.

He alleged that there were some election irregularities committed in some local government areas of the state during the poll that were unacceptable to the PDP.

“Like in Kankara Local Government Area, some uncustomised result sheets are used to enter results, even though, they are from INEC, but are not the ones specifically supposed to be used for 2019 elections.

“In other places, there are over voting which we also observed, we are not satisfied with the result, that is why we rejected it and refused to sign.

“We raised objections on these issues during collation, but we are overruled.

“We will also raise these issues in Abuja during the final collation,” he said.

PDP rejects Katsina State presidential election result over alleged irregularities

<h1>The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has polled 1,232,133 votes in Katsina, his home state in Saturday’s presidential election.</h1>

Prof. Fatima Mukhtar, the State Collation Officer said Buhari defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party who got 308,056 votes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari won in all the 34 local government areas of the state with a wide margin.

However the number of votes recorded by Buhari is about 100,000 fewer than the 1,345,441 he got in 2015, when he ran against former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The state has a total of 3.2 million registered voters, but only 1,628,865 voters were accredited during the election, Mukhtar said.

The total votes cast was 1,619,186 and 63,712 votes were rejected.

Buhari wins Katsina with 1.23million votes

<h1>The All Progressives Congress (APC) The All Progressives Party’s Presidential Candidate in Saturday’s election, President Muhammadu Buhari, is reported to be leading in the results so far collated in 20 local governments areas of Katsina State.</h1>

Results from 20 local government areas in Katsina State, out of the 34 local government areas, indicated that Buhari is leading Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party in all the results so far collated in those local governments with a wide margin.

Prof. Fatima Mukhtar, the State Returning Officer, collating results from local government areas in the state, declared that in Daura Local Government Area, the APC scored 37,348 against PDP 4,650.

In Matazu LGA: APC got-27,625, PDP 9,15; at Ingawa LGA: APC 29,230, PDP 7,625. At Kurfi LGA: APC 25,074, PDP 9,175. Sandamu LGA: APC 29, 221, PDP 9,025. Rimi LGA: APC 33,361, PDP 8,818.

Also in Danmusa LGA: APC 30,011, PDP 7,528; Safana LGA: APC 26,631, PDP 5,756. Dutsi LGA: APC 22,583, PDP 5,330. Bakori LGA: APC 53,623, PDP 11,931 and Kusada LGA: APC 21,071 PDP scored 6,713.

In Batsari LGA: APC 26, 774, PDP 7,916. Batagarawa LGA: APC 37,695, PDP 8,453. Bindawa LGA: APC 35, 030, PDP 9,664. Musawa LGA: APC 31,690, PDP 6,673 and in Dutsinma LGA: APC 35,700, PDP 10,440.

The results also showed that in Danja LGA: APC 41,183, PDP 9,664; Zango LGA: APC 25,207, PDP 6,891. Dandume LGA: APC 35,699, PDP 6,647. Mai’adua LGA: APC 35,198 and PDP 8,256.

Results from the remaining 14 local government areas are being awaited, as collation continues.

Buhari maintains steady lead in Katsina state as INEC declares results

<h1>The Katsina State Police Command said it has arrested a notorious member of a kidnap syndicate in the state.</h1>

This is contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Katsina.

He said that the suspect had threatened to kidnap a renowned businessman in Malumfashi if he failed to pay N2 million as ransom.

Isah said that the suspect, Magaji Gudaji, aged 30, of Yandoka village in Dayi area of Malumfashi Local Government, was arrested five days ago after a tip-off.

The police spokesman said that the police recovered an Itel mobile phone with the SIM card used to commit the offence.

He added that a threat note written by the suspect to the victim was also recovered by the police.

According to him, the suspect had confessed to the commission of the crime.

The command spokesman said that investigations were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.

Police arrest notorious kidnapper in Katsina

<h1>The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), says it has rescued 10 minors including a nine-month-old baby from a gang of human traffickers.</h1>

The state NIS Comptroller, Mr Ajisafe Olusola, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Katsina.

Olusola disclosed that the rescued children were all below the age of 11, adding that two female suspects, Deborah Adewunmi, 29, and Moriliya Ibrahim, 31, allegedly connected with the crime were arrested.

The NIS boss said that the two suspected human traffickers were arrested in Katsina on Feb. 11, 2019, following a tip off.

He said that investigations showed that the suspects were conveying the minors to Libya through Niger Republic without valid travel documents.

“One of the suspects confessed that they are going to meet her husband who is residing in Agadez, Niger Republic to facilitate their journey to Libya.

“They also claimed that they ran out of funds to feed themselves, children, and transport money to go further from Katsina,’’ he said.

Olusola added that the suspects and their victims would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons zonal office in Kano, for further investigation.

<h1>The Katsina State Police Command says it has apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Ibrahim Muwange, allegedly terrorising communities in four local government areas of the state.</h1>

This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isa, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Katsina.

The statement said that the suspect, who was on police wanted list for long, was arrested on Saturday at Dayi in Malumfashi Local Government Area, following a tip-off.

“The suspect has been on the wanted list of the command in connection with various cases of cattle rustling, kidnapping, culpable homicide and armed robbery.

“He is among criminals terrorizing people in Danmusa, Malumfashi, Safana and Batsari local government areas of the state,” the statement said.

It further said that during police investigations, one AK 47 rifle was recovered in his possession.

The statement added that the suspect would be immediately charged to court.
