<h1>The Ogun Governor-elect, Mr Dapo Abiodun, says he bears no grudges against the outgoing governor of the state, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.</h1>

Abiodun stated this on Monday during his victory speech at a news conference in Iperu.

He said that he took the position in spite of Amosun’s antagonism and hostility towards him in the build-up to the Saturday’s elections.

Abiodun, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the governorship election was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.

Amosun, who is a leader of the APC in the state, rejected Abiodun after his (Abiodun)’s emergence as the party’s flag bearer from the election primaries conducted by representatives of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Subsequently, the governor declared support for his anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, who later contested on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Having emerged winner of the polls, Abiodun, however, said he was not angry with the out-the governor, who is now a senator-elect.

He recalled that he neither uttered any negative words against him nor exhibited any form of anger towards him throughout the period of the campaigns.

“My desire and priority are to serve the people of Ogun sacrificially and this is what is uppermost in my heart.

“That desire is beyond any personality and I have learnt through the experience of the campaign period that if a man is humble, keeps hope alive and resilient in the face of opposition and discouragement, he will eventually be victorious.

“Though the race was tough, the challenge was tasking, the odds were enormous and the obstacles were many, but to God be all the glory for this divine victory which is for all the good people of Ogun.

“Campaigns and elections are now over and it is time to start the real business of governance,” he said.

Abiodun, who promised to run an all-inclusive government, called on his fellow contestants to join him in harnessing the human and natural resources of the state for the overall development of the state.

“The development of Ogun is the collective duty of all and with the love of the state in our hearts; I know we all have something to offer for our development.

‘‘Our government will be more than willing to take the benefits of shared knowledge and experience,” he said.

Unveiling some of his plans for the state, Abiodun said he would pro-actively create and promote enabling environment for a public and private sector partnership for rapid industrialisation and infrastructure development.

He added that his government would focus on rehabilitation of rural roads to ease movement of farm produce with a view to creating wealth for real farmers.

“The local government administration is the closest to the people and we will return relevance to this third tier of government in Ogun.

‘‘We will create a beneficial synergy that will quicken the pace of development in our local government areas,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as members and chieftains of the APC for their support throughout the period of election.

<h1>The Hausa-Fulani Community in Ogun on Tuesday endorsed the governorship candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mr Adekunke Akinlade, as their preferred candidate for Saturday’s governorship election in the state.</h1>

The Head of Hausa-Fulani Community in Ogun, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, announced the endorsement at a news conference in Abeokuta.

They pledged to deliver a bloc vote for Akinlade, saying that he was the most qualified candidate among the contestants.

Hassan explained that their decision was informed by the campaign promise of Akinlade to sustain the rebuilding agenda of the Ibikunke Amosun-led administration, particularly infrastructural development.

“Amosun has laid a solid foundation for development in Ogun and we believe the work must be sustained, otherwise it will amount to a waste.

“Ibikunke Amosun-led administration has been generous and favourable to us.

“His government is a government that accommodates all, irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation and we see Akinlade following his footsteps and sustaining such legacy,” he said.

Akinlade, in his response, urged the people to vote for him, adding that anyone who did not have the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) should mobilise those who had to vote for him.

“My intentions for the state are pure and good and if elected, I will ensure that you are free to transact your businesses and your children will continue to go to school without intimidation.

“I also assure you that if I am elected as the governor of the state, I will appoint Hausa-Fulani indigene into my cabinet,” he said.

The event was attended by the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, heads of the various Hausa-Fulani communities across the state as well as members and chieftains of the party.

<h1>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday declared Chief Tolu Odebiyi, the APC candidate, as the winner of Saturday’s poll for Ogun-West Senatorial seat.</h1>

The Returning Officer, Prof. Taofeek Shittu, at Oronna Hall Collation Centre in Ilaro, said Odebiyi won the election for the Ogun-West Senatorial seat, having polled the highest votes of 58,452.

Odebiyi’s closest rival, Mr Olusegun Gbeleyi of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), scored 48,611 votes, while Mr Leye Odunjo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 43,454 votes.

INEC had on Sunday declared the state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, who contested on the platform of the APC, winner of the Ogun Central Senatorial seat.

Meanwhile, Odebiyi who was former Secretary to Ogun Government, has dedicated his victory to ‘‘all those who have endured indignities but remained principled on behalf of the people of Ogun-West."

In a statement after he was declared winner on Tuesday, the senator-elect expressed gratitude to the people of Ogun West for the opportunity extended to him to serve.

‘‘I will continue to stand with you shoulder-to-shoulder in raising higher the flag of progress and prosperity for the people of Ogun West,’’ he said.

APC wins Ogun-West Senatorial District election

<h1>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday disclosed plans to ease participation of People With Disabilities ( PWDs) in the 2019 general elections.</h1>

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ogun , Prof. Abdulganiyu Raji, made the disclosure at a sensitisation forum organised by the commission for PWDs in the state.

Raji said that the forum was meant to inspire the PWDs to action regarding their civic duties and to mobilise them toward greater participation in the forthcoming polls.

According to the REC, Nigeria has about 18 million PWDs, constituting about 10 per cent of the entire population.

He described the population as significant, adding that it would impact on the outcome of the election.

“Consequently, the commission has made preparations to ensure your active participation in the 2019 polls as one of the critical stakeholders,” he said.

He explained that INEC would accord the group priority at each of the polling units.

Raji added that blind and incapacitated persons would be allowed to be accompanied into the voting points for assistance to cast their votes.

The REC explained that mobile aids would be provided for people with mobility problems while braille ballot papers and magnifying glasses would be deployed for albinos and the visually impaired.

He added that a form, EC40H, had been specially designed to collect information about types of disabilities and number of PWDs in each polling unit for preparations towards future elections.

”I believe that you will find this sensitisation forum useful and it will serve as a re- assurance that INEC has made adequate preparations for you people to enhance your participation in the 2019 polls,” he said.

The Chairman of the Ogun chapter of the Joint National Association of People With Special Needs, Mr Mohammed Olalekan, who spoke with newsmen after the programme, commended INEC for organizing the forum.

He said that the forum had instilled a sense of belonging in his members and encouraged them.

Olalekan gave an assurance that the association would partner with INEC by mobilising its members to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards and turn out in large numbers during the polls.
