<h1>The management of Yaba College of Technology has inaugurated a diagnostic section at its medical centre, to provide improved medical services to students.</h1>

The Rector of the College, Mr Obafemi Omokungbe, while inaugurating the facility on Wednesday said the centre was equipped with modern medical facilities.

He listed the new facilities as hematology analyzer, chemistry analyzer, genotype machine, X-ray machine with capacity to cope with students’ registration needs, automatic processor and blood mixer.

He said the centre was equipped to align with the new status of the medical centre.

According to him, the college has commenced T-ship programmes with three Health Management Organisations (HMOs) for the benefit of students.

He said the college had also sealed up a partnership with the Military Hospital, Yaba as well as the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

Omokungbe said the centre would improve the quality of health services to both staff and students, including other users that might have chosen the college as their National Health Insurance Hospital.

The rector said that the centre was also open to the general public.

“On assumption of duty as rector, the medical centre was one of the units I visited, precisely on March 13, 2018.

“This was because adequate medical services for everyone particularly, the students was a major concern.

“On that visit, it was discovered that the medical centre needed priority attention with respect to provision of improved medical services in the areas of supply of drugs, completion of the diagnostic centre and provision of basic medical facilities.

“Also required was proper conclusion of arrangements to commence the T-ship programme.

“Today, the T-ship programmes has fully commenced with three HMOs in place for students.

Omokungbe said that supply of drugs had been regular and that qualified staff had been recruited to manage the facility.

He commended the medical director of the centre for working tirelessly with his team to ensure that the project became a reality.

“If well managed, the centre will be another source of internally-generated revenue which will sustain the medical centre and in the long run the college.

“In the very near future, the centre will be expanded to meet the needs of the environment and beyond,” he said.

Yari made the statement at Maradun community in the Maradun Local Government Area of the state on Friday, when he visited the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari in his palace.

The governor visited the royal father in continuation of his governorship campaign.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zamfara in Nigeria’s northwest has been contending with a deadly banditry and herdsmen attacks that have claimed hundreds of lives in recent years.

“l cannot see the possibility of abduction cases coming to an end in Zamfara State because the perpetrators have now turned it into a business venture.

“House owners rent out their property to anyone who comes, especially the highest bidders. So, the criminals hatch their plans in the privacy of their rented homes before they lay siege on innocent people.

“l wish to reiterate my earlier call on traditional rulers to be vigilant on strangers coming to settle in their domains and for landlords to also investigate their tenants to be and not to be lured by the money such persons offer them,” he said.

The governor, however, lauded the efforts of security operatives, especially the civilian joint task force created by the state last November to fight crime in the state.

Yari appealed to Zamfara residents to come out en-mass on election days to vote for their candidates of choice.

In his response, Tambari, assured the governor that his subjects would come out in en mass on elections days to discharge their civic duties.
