Much like the actual birthing process, the first season was a rollercoaster ride of joy, pain, and abdominal cramps (because obviously there was an episode where the men were hooked up to machines that simulated labor pain).

At the end of Thursday's big finale, Kristy chose Air Force veteran <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kyleklinger/?hl=en" id="c01021db-f75f-3de1-a285-de9af9978bc6"> Kyle Klinger </a> , 38, as her winner. In a new interview with Men's Health, the Labor of Love star reflected on her decision and gave updates on whether the couple is still together.

Before we get to their current relationship status, let's talk about that emotional final episode. After narrowing down the pool to finalists Kyle and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stewart_e_gill/?hl=en" id="538eb677-ee3f-3db6-a71b-03e438546a3c"> Stewart Gill </a> , Kristy had a difficult choice to make: She could choose Kyle; she could choose Stewart; or she could choose no one, and pursue motherhood on her ownbecause Labor of Love turned out to be way more enlightened than we initially expected, TBH.

"I always knew going in that I would pursue motherhood no matter what," Kristy said. "So maybe that gave me some reassurance and allowed me to just be totally open and vulnerable."

After her final dates with Stewart and Kyle in her hometown of Chicago, Kristy decided it was time to break things off with Stewart. (He cried. It was sad. We love you, Stewart.)

"I think Stuart and I on paper make so much sense, but ... something about the relationship just didn't feel right," Kristy said. "It didn't feel real to me. It didn't feel like it was really about us, and that maybe didn't play out in the show, but that kept holding me back."

Stewart had been an early front-runner in the seasonunlike Kyle, who somehow managed to stay in the background despite being 6'8".

"I really, in a lot of ways, knew him the least, but the experience I had with him on the show was positive, and he showed himself to be supportive and understanding," Kristy said. "He was maybe different than someone I had dated in the past, but I still saw the possibilities there."

After ending things with Stewart, Kristy took Kyle into an old-timey trolley and told him he was the winner. They kissed, and the season ended with serious happily-ever-after vibes.

Now for the question on everyone's mind:

Sadly, Kristy and Kyle have gone their separate ways. "I really had like two dates with these men," Kristy pointed out. "That's not a lot of time to get to know someone."

After the show, "you kind of get into your real life, and things can be different" Kristy said. "And I think for us, it's really just simpleit's nothing unusual. I just think at the end of the day, I realized pretty quickly that we just weren't compatible. We kind of had different lifestyles, and we're on different timelines. Those are some issues that did come up on the show, but obviously I saw enough things to counter that, that I wanted to take the chance. And that's just how it turned out."

True to her mission from the outset to become a mother, Kristy moved forward independently with her IVF process. In February, she went through an embryo transfer that was ultimately unsuccessful, "which was very upsetting at the time," she said. Then, as she geared up to try again, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the entire process was put on pause.

Now for the good news: Kristy expects she'll be able to resume the IVF process in August.

"I would've loved to be pregnant when this aired, and unfortunately there are things that happened this year that none of us saw coming," she said. (An understatement when it comes to 2020, honestly.) "But I'm really excited that I'm in the place where I get to actually pick that up again."

On top of pursuing her dream of becoming a mom, Kristy's still hopeful about finding a romantic partnerand no, it didn't cross her mind to reach out to any of the eliminated Labor of Love contestants. (Listen, we had to ask on Stewart's behalf.)

"I'm not really a looking back kind of girl, you know?" she said. "I'd rather look forward to the future and know that, hey, yes, I still want love. I know the right person is out there for me. Eventually we're going to find each other, and I can't wait to see what it actually looks like."

Is Netflix's Too Hot to Handle Getting a Season 2?

"It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," says <a href="https://www.instagram.com/david.birtwistle/" id="276639e9-aa3b-3c51-a562-fe7270136138"> David Birtwistle </a> , one of the aforementioned hot people you'll meet when Too Hot to Handle hits Netflix on April 17th. "It's something that I'm really grateful for. I don't think I'll ever get something similar to that again."

Well, that's probably true. On the show, contestants were monitored by an omniscient digital being known as "Lana" (read: hyper-attentive producers) to track if and when they did any sort of deed.

"We were very aware that Lana was everywhere at all times," David says. "There were definitely a few moments where you know for a fact that if Lana wasn't there, some stuff would be happening."

The no-kissing rule was the hardest part of the show, David says. Things got really tricky when he made a connection with someone in the later stages of the showand they had to fight not to lock lips.

"When you're in the pool, in swimming suits, and you're very close to one another ... having to not kiss someone when you really want to, and you're like an inch away from their face, that is tough," he says. (Meanwhile, the no-masturbating rule was easy: "You don't have any real alone timeyou're with people all the time. It's pretty much only when you're showering on in the bathroom that you have alone time, but the showers have cameras in them as well.")

For the U.K.-based fitness and nutrition coach, it was also tough spending four weeks without a gym; there were only dumbbells on set. David knew he'd have to get creative with his workouts, so he stuffed his suitcase with resistance bands, a jumprope, and any other small fitness accessories he could squeeze in.

"It was very much a case of, 'How can I get the most out of this environment?'" he says. The answer was dumbbell-based functional fitness moves, including shoulder presses, dumbbell thrusters, and dumbbell snatches: "multi-joint movements put together in some sort of CrossFit-style <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a28167089/metabolic-conditioning-workouts/" id="267c42db-0596-3506-a581-ec6a62d03edf"> metcon </a> , or circuit, to get the heart rate up." He also used bodybuilder-style <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a25252586/muscle-hypertrophy/" id="65515f35-5148-3aa6-aa17-caa5e1d79366"> hypertrophy to build muscle </a> .

"Me and a couple of the lads got into a rhythm of working out every morning," David says. They'd crank out a big workout, do some soccer drills, then hit the pool for a swim.

His <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a29653495/how-to-work-out-with-a-friend/" id="95af90b5-1d0d-387e-ad71-8c08f45e71dd"> workout buddies </a> included Kelz, Matt, and Shirron. "I taught Kelz how to do handstand walking," David says. "You'd be surprised: a man that's 6'6", he learned it quite quickly. I was pretty impressed."

The women also got in on the workout action...by providing extra resistance in David and Kelz' routines.

"We didn't have enough weight, so we asked one of the girls to stand on our backs as we were doing pushups, just to get that extra resistance in there for that chest workout," David recalls. "I think there was bench-pressing some of the girls ... at some point."

Wait...bench-pressing the women? Did that not count as sexual activity?

"Im glad they didnt clock onto that one," David says. "Lana wasnt watching."

It remains to be seen whether David made any lasting deep connections with any of the ladies on the show, but he certainly bonded with the other guysand discovered some things about himself, too. He says one of his best memories of the show was the men-only warrior workshop, where the guys covered themselves in mud and learned to express their vulnerabilities and past traumas. "It built relationships," he says. "It allowed us to see each other for our true person."

Sounds like in one way or another, Too Hot to Handle achieved its goals.

"Running down from the villa into the water and cleaning ourselves of the mud, that was such an amazing experience," David remembers. "I cant tell you how brilliant that felt to run into the sea and just be free."

A new reality dating show is about to hit Netflix and heat up your life in self-isolation. It's called <a href="http://www.netflix.com/TooHotToHandle" id="9d4bbc9e-0fda-366f-acec-36f7368f92ee"> Too Hot to Handle </a> , and the premise is simple and hilarious: Send a bunch of exceedingly hot cast members to a beach resort. Then inform them they'll lose prize money if they hook up with each other.

Then, midway through her first year at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, COVID-19 began its deadly spread across the globe, with healthcare workers <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/27/coronavirus-masks-dwindling-hospital-crisis-team-searches-for-way-out/" id="e33ac3aa-e45e-3f4e-abb2-5cfe92a47f92"> scrambling to deal with shortages </a> of personal protective equipment, or PPE, on the front lines of the pandemic.

Inspired by <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/health/a31743895/being-a-nurse-coronavirus-covid-19/" id="5d7b09c6-473a-37da-afee-f283e0660609"> their heroic work </a> , Tisch felt a "personal call to action." She wanted to help hospitals find PPEand she knew just where to look. Major museums use masks, gloves, and goggles for cleaning and repairing paintings and artifacts. As it turned out, museumsclosed indefinitely during the pandemicwere more than happy to donate their protective equipment to hospitals in need. And Tisch was happy she could be of service, even from self-isolation.

Tisch is one of thousands of medical students in the Philadelphia area who have rapidly mobilized (independently of their schools) to support healthcare workers and other vulnerable community members during the COVID-19 crisis.

Since March 19, a Facebook group called the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/POHPS" id="3a0aa650-19ce-3305-a5f1-6f94845b2c6a"> Philadelphia Organization of Health Professions Students (POHPS) </a> has hosted a lot of these organizing efforts, where volunteers have been divided into committees and launched an impressive array of projects. Students are doggedly tracking down untapped PPE resources, coordinating donation pick-up and drop-off, and distributing public health resources. The POHPS group's members say have plenty more projects in the pipelinewhile making sure all their efforts comply with recommended practices.

Many students like Tisch had been independently doing their part to contribute to COVID-19 response, but it was Ramie Fathy, a Perelman third-year, <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/health/coronavirus/coronavirus-covid19-penn-temple-jefferson-medical-students-20200329.html" id="78f7396b-b9bd-3f6f-a6af-49284a018188"> who centralized their efforts </a> in the fast-growing private Facebook group.

After his dermatology rotation was suspended due to the novel coronavirus, Fathy found himself stuck at home reading the latest news all day. So he created the POHPS Facebook group to pool ideas between the many medical students seeking ways to keep their community safe.

He first opened the POHPS group to medical students, then people studying nursing, dentistry, podiatry, public health, and even veterinary medicine. Thousands of future medical professionals were eager to lend a hand. Others used the group to promote their own existing projectslike a student at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine who <a href="https://sites.google.com/view/medical-students-for-masks-phl/home?fbclid=IwAR0n3mfGVfKxJUtBRorgH0CGi2tV5PUWvaoC2ijUUsd3944wvICNqo5Q2oE" id="3c86ec20-1271-3d72-ac61-529625382f61"> launched a fundraiser that's raised over $33,000 to buy N95 masks </a> .

Terry Gao, a fourth-year at Jefferson's Sidney Kimmel Medical College, has converted her storage room in her apartment building into a pick-up and drop-off hub for PPE donations. She helps run an initiative called " <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ppe2phl/" id="e5ea01b8-92f1-37db-a68e-4d4fe7f263b3"> PPE 2 PHL </a> ," where she organizes volunteer "couriers" to collect and transport donations from untapped PPE resources like construction sites, tattoo parlors, art schools, research labs, and nail salons.

"I didn't know some nail salons have staff wear N95s when theyre doing nail grinding and filing," Gao says.

Once the couriers have secured the donations, Gao works with another student on the distribution side of the program to make sure the PPE gets where it needs to go. Virtual meetings and phone calls focusing on the enterprise now fill Gao's days.

Gao's immediate family members work in the healthcare field, which gives her extra motivation to collect and distribute as much PPE as possible.

"When I see articles about national shortages, and front-line healthcare workers being exposed and risking their lives, that to me reads on a very personal level," she says. "I can't help but see those words replaced by 'your mom and your sister are out risking their lives, and you're about to be a surgical intern, and you're not doing anything but sitting at home and attending online lectures'which matter for my education, but it's just much less impactful."

Perelman third-year Eden Engel-Rebitzer, whose sub-internship at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs was suspended due to COVID-19, is trying to keep a positive mindset about operating from home these days.

From a workstation in her bedroom, she's setting up grocery deliveries for medical residents, collecting infographics in different languages to share with the public, and helping organize the committees within POHPS. She says she still wants to compile resources to help Philadelphia community members understand a range of topics, including how to access needle exchanges and what to do if your landlord evicts you during the pandemic.

"It's always hard to lose the opportunity to have a really cool training experience," she says of her suspended sub-internship, "but for all of us, [the disappointment] has been overshadowed by the sense of mission around the coronavirus."

Men's Health asked Engel-Rebitzer how many hours a day she's working on pandemic-related initiatives.
