<h1>Mr Abdullahi Sule, the Nasarawa state governor-elect, has called on his opponents at the poll to join him in order to move the state to greater heights.</h1>

Sule, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday governorship poll, told newsmen on Monday in Lafia that he dedicated his success at the poll to the people of the state.

According to him, the dedication cuts across political, religious and ethnic divide.

“Let me express my profound appreciation to the entire people of Nasarawa state, especially the electorate, for their overwhelming support and show of love."

Sule said the people’s support “saw to the success we are here celebrating today.”

He said the victory had opened another vista for consolidation on the achievements of Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, adding that he would sustain the tempo of development in the state.

“I want to assure you that the confidence reposed in me will not be misplaced.

“Let me use this opportunity to extend my hands of fellowship and appeal to fellow contestants across party lines.

“They are urged to join me in the task of building a united and peaceful Nasarawa state for the benefit of all.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sule was declared winner of the election on the platform of APC after polling 327,229 votes to defeat other opponents.

Nasarawa Governor-elect extends olive branch to opponents

Prof. Abdullahi Bala, Returning Officer for the election announced Sule as governor-elect on Monday in Lafia after the collation of results from the 13 local government areas of the state.

Bala said the APC candidate polled a total of 327,229 votes to defeat other opponents in the election.

According to him, Mr David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 184,281 votes, while Mr Labaran Maku of the All Progressives Grand Alliance polled a total of 132,784 votes at the election.

He said 686,303 voters were accredited and 681,400 cast their ballots during the election.

Bala further explained that 670,879 of the votes cast were valid while 10,521 were rejected.

The result indicated that APC won in 11 out of the 13 local government areas of the state while Maku of APGA and Umar Aliyu Doma of Zenith Labour Party won in Nasarawa Eggon and Doma local government areas respectively.

Meanwhile, the collation agent of the PDP, Yakubu Dauda refused to sign the result.

According to him, there were several complaints brought by his party to INEC over the conduct of the exercise but were ignored.

On his part, Aliyu Bello, the APC agent said the outcome of the election was not surprising given the track record of the party in the state under Gov. Umaru Al-Makura.

“The result of the election is a payback by the people of the state for the great work done by Al-Makura and the APC,’ he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Engr. Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Nasarawa state.

Agidi (Nasarawa State), Feb. 4, 2019 (NAN) The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Nasarawa State, Mr Abdullahi Sule, has vowed to eliminate thuggery and youth restiveness in the state if elected governor.

Sule gave this assurance on Monday at Agidi, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state during his campaign in the area.

He also pledged to create jobs and conducive business environment for youths and women to be gainfully engaged.

The PDP governorship candidate reiterated his determination to leverage on his wealth of experience and connections to industrialise the state.

Sule decried the involvement of many young people in political thuggery in the state and vowed to reverse the trend if given the mandate.

The PDP governorship candidate urged politicians to desist from using places of worship for campaign.

According to him, such actions are improper and should be discouraged in the interest of all.

He urged Nigerians to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections in order to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far. (NAN)

Adamawa State APC governorship candidate vows to end thuggery

<h1>The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has deployed 2,000 personnel to provide security during President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election rally on Wednesday in Lafia.</h1>

The command Spokesman, ASP Samaila Usman, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lafia that the aim was to ensure a hitch-free visit by the President.

Usman said the personnel were drawn from the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism and Intelligence units.

According to him, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adebola Emmanuel-Longe, also deployed men of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit as well as conventional policemen.

Usman added that there would be diversion of traffic within Lafia during the period of the rally and urged the public to cooperate with the police.
