<h1>Mr Chris Finebone, Publicity Secretary, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has denied allegation making round that the party plots to scuttle elections in Rivers.</h1>

Finbone told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Port Harcourt that the accusation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a mere imagination.

He also said that the allegation that the Transportation Minister, Mr Rotim Amaechi was holding secret meetings in Abuja and strategising to disrupt elections in the state was another mere imagination by PDP.

“Well, the claim by PDP that the Minister for Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, is holding any meeting whatsoever, dwells only in the infantile imagination of the PDP characters behind such outlandish allegation,” he said.

NAN reports that PDP, during a media briefing on Tuesday, accused APC of conniving with the security agencies and employing other undemocratic strategies to scuttle elections in parts of the state.

Finebone urged the public not to take the accusation serious, adding that it was a deliberate attempt to discredit APC and to dissuade its teaming supporters.

“Rivers PDP is doing exactly what the Holy Bible refers to as the guilty running when no one is pursuing.

“We hereby warn PDP to desist from maligning innocent members of APC who have done nothing wrong, whatsoever."

<h1>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers has alleged plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC ) to destabilise the general elections in the state.</h1>

Mr Desmond Akawo, Director-General, Rivers PDP Campaign Council, made the allegation at a news conference on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

Akawo said that it became necessary to draw the attention of Nigerians and the international community to the plot and determination of the APC to prevent the elections from holding on Feb. 23 and March 9 in the state.

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had slated Feb. 23, and March 9 for the Presidential/National Assembly and Governorship/State Assembly elections respectively.

Akawo said that indications in the state showed that the APC might scuttle the rights of the people of the state to a free and fair electoral process.

The director-general said that the APC at different fora had threatened that there would be no elections in the state until all pending litigations by the APC got to the apex Court for final decision.

Akawo said that the PDP was dismayed over continued silence of the Federal Government and the security agencies whom, he alleged, had failed to caution those behind such widely published threats capable of inciting the people of the state.

“The APC in a viral media publication by one of its chieftains, Mr Tonye Princewill on the Daily Post newspaper of Feb. 7, had said, it will be lawful to be lawless if INEC fails to unlawfully include the APC and its candidates on the ballot paper.”

“In all of these threats by some APC chieftains, including the one issued during the Rivers Presidential campaign rally by the Transportation Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, who even incited his supporters with a war song, had yet to attract any condemnation by ether the security agencies nor the Federal Government,” he said.

Akawo also alleged that several undemocratic strategies ranging from threats to even moves to bribe electoral officers and connive with security agencies to tamper with sensitive electoral materials had been employed by Rivers APC to disrupt smooth process.

In the same vain, Mr Ferdinand Anabraba, Chairman PDP Campaign Council, also alleged that the APC had displayed high level desperation and ready to do anything toward winning elections in the state.

“Just this morning, I got an information that my property in Abonima had forcefully been occupied by the army and the officers who are stationed there and are being used to cause crises in Abonima and Akuku-Toru Local Government Councils.

“It is important to note that whatever crises that will arise in Rivers, we will know its coming from the APC and the security agencies,” he alleged.

Meanwhile efforts by NAN to reach the APC stalwarts to react to the allegations failed before this publication.

<h1>Mrs Rachel Akpabio, South-South Zonal Woman Leader, All Progressives Congress (APC), says that President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election has become very critical to saving the country from moral decadence.</h1>

Akpabio made the assertion during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

She said that the country was almost neck deep in crises in various sectors ranging from economy to security until the timely intervention of the present administration.

The woman leader said that some Nigerians who had been criticising the present administration had failed to consider the positive implications of President Buhari’s re-election.

“Believe it or not, there was the challenge of moral decadence before this administration came on board .

“We were already running into crises, for instance, the former Finance Minister, Mrs Okonjo Iweala, once said that she had advised the government to save for the rainy day and the advice was not effectively harnessed.

“Even the former Central Bank Governor (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, once talked greatly about the 20 billion dollars that was not being remitted to the federation account.

“Same goes for Prof. Charles Soludo, also a former CBN governor, who also warned against mismanagement by government.

“All these technocrats were in government and they all expressed sincere views on the rate of moral decadence facing the country,” she said.

Akpabio said that Buhari on assumption of office diligently studied the various crises threatening growth of the country and had been strategically tackling them.

“All we need to do as lovers of our dear country is to allow the president consolidate on all his achievements.

“It’s saddening that some persons see the president as being slow but I see him as a diligent servant leader.

“A beautifully constructed building with visible cracks cannot be inhabited until such engineering fault is corrected to avoid collapse.

“Buhari in this instance, is fixing our cracked walls, he is moulding leadership in Nigeria, making sure that only the right technocrats occupy sacred positions with an objective of building a reliable nation,” she said.

Akpabio also said that though the most expected 35 per cent affirmative action had yet to be achieved by the present administration, an encouraging number of women were presently occupying various positions of trust.
