<h1>The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Gombe State command has arrested 10 suspected drug peddlers during a pre-election raid on black spots in the state.</h1>

Mr Aliyu Adole, Commandant of the agency in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Tuesday.

He said the suspects were arrested in Akko, Billiri, Gombe and Kaltungo Local Government Areas and four of them were charged to court while six were referred for counseling.

According to him, the agency will also revisit the areas including those areas it had not visited before the Feb. 23 elections.

He said that the agency had also identified some major drug dealers following their operations and are being tracked.

“We are going round again to ensure that drugs are not being distributed during the election period and beyond,” he said.

Adole advised the youths to stop drug abuse because of its harmful effect, adding that parents should monitor their wards.

<h1>The Code of Conduct Bureau in Gombe State has advised public servants to declares their assets as part of constitutional requirement.</h1>

The bureau Director in the state, Mr Panyi Baira, gave the advise in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Tuesday.

He said “asset declaration is a constitutional requirement that has to be fulfilled by all government workers from the lowest government employee to the highest office in the country as required by law.

“The law says career civil servants must declares once after each and every four years, but for political office holders, they must declare their assets when they assume office and when they leave, be it elective or appointed.”

According to him, some civil servants, public office holders and other elected officers in the state have responded positively

to the provisions of asset declaration not necessary waiting until asked for the nominal role.

The director added that the bureau was constituted to ensure high level of accountability, transparency and high level

of morality in government business.The director said that failure to fill the assets declaration form is also an offence.

He explained that “failure to declare assets by public officer can lead to confiscation by Court of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) and the assets accordingly become government property.”

He also advised against over-declaration or under-declaration, saying it was an offence too.

<h1>The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday warned corps members on election duty to desist from receiving snacks and drinks from unknown persons during elections.</h1>

Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, NYSC Director-General, gave the warning while addressing the corps members in Gombe.

Kazaure, who was represented by Mr Zakaria Alphonso, Assistant Director, Mobilisation, NYSC, Abuja, said that such gifts could harm them.

“Because such items can be poisoned or flavoured with drugs that can induce sleep,” he said.

He advised the corps members to make personal feeding plans and water, and make they do not over feed.

“Rather, you should go along with your lunch packs to your various polling units,” the NYSC chief advised.

The D-G told the corps members to display high-level of integrity, patriotism and commitment to ensuring free, fair and credible elections.

Kazaure advised the corps members to ensure that their phones were charged, with enough airtime and they should appear in NYSC uniform, with their identity cards.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corps members were also sensitised on security tips at the event.

<h1>state command of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said it arrested a total of 11 suspects for dealing in prohibited drugs,weighing 9.3 kg, last month.</h1>

Mr Aliyu Adolescent, Commander of the agency in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Friday that 113 tablets of psychotropic substances were also recovered, adding that the suspects comprised of a female and 10 males.

“Within these 30 days, we were able to arrest 11 suspects, 10 males and one female and removed from circulation, 9.3 kg of cannabis and 113 tablets of psychotropic substances,” he said.

According to him, the psychotropic substances are the major drugs of abuse in the state.

Adole said the agency had resorted to targeting ‘black-sport’in the state and arresting major dealers in an effort to reduce the rate of abuse.

He called on youth to be careful and focus on things that would make them successful in life instead of indulging in drug abuse.

The Commandant also advised them not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians.

He also urged the parents, guardians and religious leaders to guide the youth on the right path towards ensuring violence-free elections this year.

“You (parents) need to talk to them to shun this act.

“For religious leaders, do not be tired of talking in the Mosques, Churches and other places.

“Always advise people that are taking drugs to know that it is dangerous to the individual and the society,” he said.
