Nigerian striker scores for Shanghai Shenhua in Asian Champions League game

Martins was in action when Shanghai Shenhua as they hosted Sydney FC of Australia in an ACL group stage fixture which ended (2 - 2)

The Super Eagles striker opened the scoring for Shanghai Shenhua in the 26th minute but his goal was cancelled out when Luke Wilkshire equalised for Sydney.

The away side took the lead through Alex Brosque in the 34th minute, but Obafemi's Shanghai responded with an equaliser through Fredy Guarin  in the 39th minute which turned out to be the last goal of the game

Martins was also in action from the start when Shanghai Shenhua picked up a draw (1 - 1) away to Kashima Antlers of Japan in their opening fixture of the ACL.

After their two matches, Shanghai Shenhua have played two draws and have two points, in the other group game Kashima Antlers defeated Suwon Bluewings (1 - 2) away from home.

Martins has only made two appearances for Shanghai Shenhua in the continental competition, but was chosen as the forward to lead Shanghai Shenhua as they host Sydney who lost their opening match 2 – 0 to Suwon Bluewings.

33-year-old Martins has made a total of 51 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua since his move to China from American outfit Seattle Sounders, and has scored a total of 18 goals in 41 matches for the Super Eagles.

Martins has played for top football teams such as, Reggina, Inter Milan, Newcastle United, VfL Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Birmingham City, Levante, Seattle Sounders FC before he moved to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
