Forensic report reveals Bollywood actress died of 'accidental drowning'

Dubai Police released the forensic report on the 54-year-old’s death to family and the Indian Consulate representative.

According to a report by Gulf News, Dubai Police said initial investigation shows that Sridevi, who passed away on Saturday, drowned following loss of consciousness in the bathtub of her hotel room.

They also found traces of alcohol in her body, which they believe may have led to the accident.

“The investigation is still going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned,” an official told Gulf News.

It had earlier been reported that Sridevi Kapoor died of cardiac arrest while at a family wedding in Dubai.

Sridevi was four when she appeared in her first film. She was popular for films such as “Mr. India” (1987), “ChaalBaaz” (1989), “Chandni” (1989) and “Lamhe” (1991).

In 1996, after she got married to film producer Boney Kapoor, she retired from acting for 15 years.

She returned in 2012  with the movie, “English Vinglish.”

Kapoor's final film, which was released in 2017, is titled "Mom," and saw her play a teacher out to revenge the rape of her stepdaughter.
