Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu is dead

The actor has been battling with stroke for years now.

Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actor Ernest Asuzu.

Asuzu who grew into fame as with his several bad boy characters died on Tuesday, January, 26, 2021.

His wife Jennifer confirmed the death to Pulse and revealed that the actor slumped and never woke up.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

Before his death, the actor battled stroke amidst personal problems that kept him out of the limelight.

Originally from Imo state, Asuzu grew up in Lagos state where he had his primary and secondary school education.

Asuzu rose to limelight in the 1990s after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster 'Another Campus Queen.'

He went to star alongside some of Nollywood's greats like Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Emeka Ike and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

He reportedly starred in over 150 movies during his career in Nollywood.

Just like a number of movie stars, Asuzu also had a stint in the music industry. His stage name was El Cream.

After his time in the limelight, the actor had personal problems which were further complicated after he suffered a stroke in 2015.

His health issues took a toll on him financially while he was also once rumoured dead.

The likes of popular Delta State-based Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufenyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry Warri and Mrs Obiano, the First Lady of Anambra State came to his aid.

In 2020, a video of the actor surfaced online where he was spotted appealing for financial aid in front of an ATM gallary in Lagos.

In an interview with Premium Times in December 2020, the late actor revealed that he asked his friends to make that video so people would know he was still not in a good place.
