Magnitude 6.6 earthquake hits Indonesia

There is however no risk of a Pacific-wide tsunami threat from the Indonesia quake.

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has hit Ternate which is off the northwest in Indonesia.

According to AP, Jerisman Purba, an official at Indonesia's Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency, said there was no potential for a tsunami to be triggered.

Last weekend, cyclone Pam hit the pacific nation of killing no fewer than 20 people and leaving a wake of destruction behind.
