Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult things to do. There are several methods that have been tested but proven wrong. Now, scientists have come up with a nicotine vaccine that just may be the answer.

For about seventy five percent of those who have tried to quit smoking but relapsed, there’s some hope. Scientists have discovered a nicotine vaccine that could be more effective than other methods.

The way the medication works is to train a smoker’s body to attack nicotine molecules before they get to the brain, thus diminishing the effect. Although this previously proved unsuccessful, they found that smokers who released the most anti-nicotine antibodies were most likely to exceed the six-month mark without relapsing.

Experimenting on mice, they found that they displayed a “severely blunted” response to nicotine after the vaccine’s effects. They also discovered these mice had lower amounts of nicotine in their brains.

In the end, the formula still requires revision before it can be up for potential clinical trials, but this is most definitely a positive step forward. It could also open up the option of using a vaccine to manage other addictions. Do you believe this new finding? Join the conversation below.
