It can be tough navigating office parties, family gatherings, anywhere with parents and children, from how to act to what to wear. If you’re worried, we can help! Here are 5 essential things to do at any party:

  • Guest rule : Unless explicitly stated, you should invite only one guest. At family gatherings or other respectable party,it’s best to bring a guest of substance, like an old friend, a cousin, a partner only if she's got a ring on her finger. People who know how to comport themselves in public.

  • Host present: Don’t just pick up some old bottle of red wine. Instead, get a nice bottle of scotch or cognac for the host who welcomes you into his home for a holiday party. It shouldn’t be something that can be served that night.

  • Liquor: A good host will offer you a drink. However, in a case where you are not offered any drinks, you should wait till they do or kindly ask if you should serve yourself.

  • Outfit: As a sign of respect for the host, don’t put on a contrasting collar shirt and Donald Trump tie. A better option is a well-worn tweed blazer, a button-collar oxford and a wool tie; a staple outfit.

  • Gratitude: After you have observed the above tips, you should end with a brief toast, with a few word of gratitude and wisdom, especially if you know the host well. However, if you don’t, a leisure handwritten thank-you note will suffice.

Try these tips next time you have to attend a party and let us know what you think.
