Host present: Don’t just pick up some old bottle of red wine. Instead, get a nice bottle of scotch or cognac for the host who welcomes you into his home for a holiday party. It shouldn’t be something that can be served that night.
Liquor: A good host will offer you a drink. However, in a case where you are not offered any drinks, you should wait till they do or kindly ask if you should serve yourself.
Outfit: As a sign of respect for the host, don’t put on a contrasting collar shirt and Donald Trump tie. A better option is a well-worn tweed blazer, a button-collar oxford and a wool tie; a staple outfit.
Gratitude: After you have observed the above tips, you should end with a brief toast, with a few word of gratitude and wisdom, especially if you know the host well. However, if you don’t, a leisure handwritten thank-you note will suffice.
