Australian researchers say that two drinks a day could raise a woman’s blood pressure enough to put her at risk for hypertension.

In the past, studies were only focused on the effect drinking alcohol had on men’s blood pressure, but now new research focused on women has surfaced.

For the Australian research, 24 healthy women, aged 24 to 49, were served 14 to 21 standard servings of red wine each week and it was discovered that they had higher pressure than when they drank less or consumed non-alcoholic wine.

Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends moderate drinking which is one drink per day for women and two drinks a day for men.

Although red wine was used for this research, many studies have shown that alcohol of any form risky.
