Scott Dunga Worgan from Terrigal, Australia, raised the bar for planning the perfect wedding proposal.

The smart dad enlisted the help of his two daughters; Scarlett, 3, and 20-month-old Sienna, in creating a video proposal for his partner and their mother, Caitlin Miller.

The girls then kept the video a secret from their mother for three weeks before Worgan, an IT worker, finally popped the question last Friday to his partner of six years.

He uploaded the video to Facebook to announce their engagement to friends that night, and the couple have been surprised by the attention it has received. By late Tuesday morning, the video had more than 85,000 views and over 1000 shares.

"The next time we checked it after posting it, it had 20,000 views; we're just in shock at how it has gone," Miller said.

Although, not every element of the proposal day went to plan. "Scott arrived back from being in Melbourne for work and asked us to meet him in Sydney for a picnic," Miller said.

"But our eldest daughter fell ill, so we packed up and headed home and sat on the lounge to watch this DVD.

"I thought this was one of his creations he puts together to cheer me up after a tough week."

The video shows Worgan passing cards to his daughters to hold up starting with 'Hi Mummy! Guess what?'

Miller said it wasn't until one of their daughters held up a sign saying 'Wouldn't it be cool IF we were your flower girls', that she 'clicked'.

The video finished with the girls holding up a sign saying 'So will you marry daddy?' with Worgan holding up his own card that read 'Me?'

"I looked at Scott and he was crying, and I was crying," she said.

"I couldn't have asked for anything better. Although Scarlett was lying on the lounge white as a ghost, the poor thing."

Miller was particularly impressed that Scarlett, who she described as a 'chatterbox', had kept the proposal secret.

As for organising their wedding, which is likely to be held early next year, Miller will have no shortage of inspiration, through her business Caitlin Miller Makeup, which specializes in weddings.

"I've done that many weddings so I know what I want," she said. "But we have such busy lives and I just assumed life was too busy to think about a wedding just yet."
