During weddings, a lot of attention is focused on the couple and the mothers, unfortunately the spotlight escapes the fathers.

The couple usually forgets to incorporate their dads into their weddings and this is really bad.

Fathers are important, they are the first men we know and usually  are the yardstick we use while searching for Mr Right, so, it is rather unfortunate we exclude them.

Also, they are usually the ones who pay for a major part of the wedding.

In order to stop this seemly unimportant habit, do the following.

  1. Ask for his opinion- There is nothing wrong with asking for your father's opinion during the wedding planning, this will make him special, wanted, and like he still matters even though you have another man in your life.

  2. Make sure you thank him before he walks down the aisle- It is easy to forget to appreciate people during all the wedding madness, so take time to really thank him for everything, make him understand how much he means to you.

  3. Another way to make him special is to wear something of his, it could be a piece of jewelry he gave you, shoes he paid for, this shows that he still matters.

  4. Have a  father-daughter wedding dance.

  5. If you have a  father-daughter wedding dance, make sure it is to his favorite song, or a song that holds some meaning to both of you.

  6. Ask him to say something at your wedding, you will be surprised at how much he treasures this simple request.

Happy Fathers Day in advance and cheers to all of the fathers out there!
