Man who begged woman for money proposes to her 2 years later

Jack Richardson had asked his 37-yr-old fiancé Toni Robinson for some money as she passed by is Big Issue magazine stand in Bristol two years ago

 

A magazine seller who recently got engaged to the love of his life as narrated how fate brought them together.

Jack Richardson had asked his 37-yr-old fiancé Toni Robinson for some money as she passed by is Big Issue magazine stand in Bristol two years ago.

The Big Issue gives employment to homeless people in order for them to make money and take themselves off the streets.

Jack who had little to spare took to begging in addition to selling magazines, however Toni apologised saying she didn't have any money on herself.

Seeing her position, Jack ave Toni 50p so she didn’t have to spend Christmas in the dark, as she couldn’t afford any electricity.

The couple later became friends over the next few months and when the groom’s home was taken away by the council, Toni gave him a place to stay.

The couple fell in love and have been living together since then.

Early November, Jack proposed to Toni at the Big Issue patch, where they first met and she agreed to be his wife.

“I was in a really bad place when I met Toni.

“I was having to beg every day just to get enough money for a night in a bed and breakfast.”

Jack admitted that his situation before meeting Toni was so dire that he had considered ending his life.

“I couldn’t see any future. But now I have someone stable who I love and who loves me,” he said.

“I’m able to look to the future,” the love-struck Jack, who still sells the magazine seven days a week told Metro UK.

Toni told reporters that she was amazed by the fact that someone ‘without a roof over his head’ would offer her money.

“He had dignity. It just really blew me away. I was so thrown, I gave him a hug,” she added.

A vicar one of the groom-to-be’s regular customers, agreed to officiate the wedding ceremony and get a church where the nuptials would hold.

A stylist and a photographer have pledged their services for the wedding.

Jack is currently studying for an Open University degree in psychology and sociology, and plans to help homeless people off the streets after graduation.
