A bride suffering from terminal cancer has married the love of her life in a bittersweet wedding ceremony organised within four weeks.

27-yr-old Lauren Barker from Biggleswade, Bedfordshire was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in July 2014 and beat the disease but in July she was told her cancer had returned and it could not be cured.

The care worker and her fiancé of four months, 26-yr-old  Ben Green, decided to plan their wedding in four weeks so that she could tie the knot before the intensive cancer treatment caused her to lose all her hair.

Daily Mail reports that the couple married on Wednesday in a lavish country manor, thanks to £8,500 donations from strangers who have gave generously to the GoFundMe page set up by Lauren's sister.

Lauren said: 'I was heartbroken when doctors told revealed my cancer was back.

'I would have been perfectly happy getting married at a register office but my sister Ruby wanted my big day to be extra special.

'She set up a GoFundMe page and donations from strangers allowed us to plan the wedding of our dreams in just four weeks.

'I have been astounded by how generous people have been.

'We would have taken a couple of years to save up for on our own, and with my recent diagnosis, we couldn't wait that long.'

The GoFundMe page exceeded its target of £5,000 for the couple, reaching just over £8,500.

Ben, a bar manager, and Lauren first met on a dating website two-and-a-half-years ago but they soon became serious.

She said: 'I knew after three dates that he was the one. We moved pretty fast as a couple but it was only because we knew we were right for each other.

'We moved in together after just six months. He has been with me all the way through, and he is just amazing.

'I keep feeling awful because he is going to be a widower because of me, but he only ever cares about what is best for me.

Three months after the start of Lauren's treatment, the cancer appeared to have gone, leaving behind what appeared to be just half a centimetre of scar tissue.

But eight weeks ago after suffering from back pains, Lauren was told that it was in fact still cancerous, and it had spread to her lymph nodes.

She said: 'I was told this time it was terminal, but I will start receiving chemotherapy to prolong my life on the September 8.

'They can't give me a time frame but I know that as soon as I begin treatment my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows will fall out.

'Every bride wants to look nice on their wedding day, so I wanted to marry Ben before I lost my hair.'

Lauren and Ben tied the knot at a manor house in Theobald's Park, Cheshunt, yesterday.

Lauren said: 'We were amazed by how many people managed to turn up at such short notice.

'We filled the venue to its full capacity, both at the ceremony and the sit-down meal.

'It was everything I had dreamed of and more, the most perfect day.

'Even though it has all been overwhelming for us, Ben is just amazing and the best husband I could ask for.
