A bridal shower is usually hosted by the bride's bestfriend or maid-of-honour, and it is mainly organized to shower the soon-to-be married girl with gifts and lots of love from friends and family.

It is a time to reflect on her years as a single lady, and also prepare her for the new journey of becoming a Mrs.

Many bridesmaids get it all wrong when planning a bridal shower by omitting important details or infusing unnecessary activities that turn the event into a major bore.

Check out these quick and simple tips for planning a perfect bridal shower:

  • The Invitation: Start your invitation with something clever to draw your guests' attention. Make use of catchy phrases, images, or special papers that sets the tone or gives an idea of the event's theme. Also, be sure to notify them that they should RSVP right away. If it's a surprise party, mention it prominently on the invitation and follow up right away with a phone call to explain the details.

  • The Host: Don't forget to specify who is hosting the event, as well as the name of the guest of honour. Emphasize on the RSVP date, and also include a phone number and email address so that guests can easily contact you to let you know if they'll be attending or not.

  • The Details: Be sure to explain the purpose of the event (in this case, a bridal shower). Don't leave your invitees to guess what kind of event they're attending.

  • The Venue: Also, give details about the venue of the event, including specific directions and add a map if possible. Leave instructions for parking, too.

  • The Date: Be very specific about the date and time of the party, and include the day of the week (for instance, Friday, September 14th). Remember to add a start and end time where applicable.

  • The Theme: Let your guests know whether you're planning a kitchen, lingerie, or other themed shower. This will help invitees know the kind of gifts and gift wraps they can bring along to add to the party ambience.

  • The Dress Code: Give your invitees a clue about the kind of attire they should wear for the occasion. If it's a casual event held outdoors in a park, you don't want anyone showing up in a little black dress and stilettos. If the party is more formal, the guests should know not to show up wearing T-shirts and jeans.
