The leader of the violent Islamic insurgent group, Boko Haram, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, has laid claims to the twin explosion that occurred at a fuel depot in the Apapa area of Lagos, on the 25th of June, saying that he actually ordered his men to bomb the depot, contrary to police reports that the explosions were caused by a gas cylinder.
Boko Haram Leader Claims He Ordered Lagos Bombing
Leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau says he ordered the Apapa, Lagos, fuel depot bombings last month.
In another of his video releases sent to the Agence-France Presse and Reuters, Shekau confirmed that he actually ordered a female suicide bomber to bomb the depot to show that his group is everywhere and can carry out attacks in all parts of the country if they so wish.
In the video, Shekau, said:
A bomb went off in Lagos. I ordered (the bomber) who went and detonated it.
Apparently reacting to the police claim, Shekau, in said:
You said it was a fire incident. Well, if you hide it from people, you can’t hide it from Allah.
He also said that the aim of the bombs were to cause a massive chain explosion and disrupt Nigeria’s mostly imported fuel supply chain and ground the country.
