Muslim women tweet their awesome achievements at David Cameron after he insulted them
Muslim women went on Twitter to protest comments David Cameron allegedly made in private last week about, "the traditional submissiveness of Muslim women."
Prime Minister, David Cameron made the comment in relation to the English language test, which his government has recently announced as part of an effort to improve migrant integration.
He was quoted as saying that "The traditional submissiveness of Muslim women is a sensitive issue, but the problems of young people being attracted by extremism will not be tackled without an element of cultural change within the community."
Unsurprisingly, the phrase "traditional submissiveness" didn't go down too well with a lot of Muslim women who went on Twitter to tweet about their achievements instead.
Dr Sukaina Hirji, who has been working hard to drum up support for the Twitter campaign, told The Muslim Vibe that: ‘I and many others have been extremely hurt by David Cameron’s article in The Times earlier this week, specifically (and incorrectly) targeting Muslim women’s apparent inability to speak the English language and loosely linking this to Radicalisation (multifactorial causes) and Female Genital Mutilation (cultural practice).’
