World’s ‘most wanted killer’ found working near police station after 8 years on the run
One of the world’s most wanted men has been found working near a police station in Wiltshire.
Piotr Kupiec, 28, was listed on Interpol’s list of most wanted criminals for his reported connection to a notorious Krakow gang as well as his involvement in ‘injury causing death/manslaughter/murder’ and ‘assault/maltreatment.’
He had been living in Devizes, Wiltshire, for the past four years under the alias Lucas Igielka - and serving food to police from the local HQ for more than two years.
A warrant was issued for his arrest in August 2008 after he fled the country, and locals in the market town of Devizes, Wiltshire believe he may have been there for at least four years.
Kupiec was found working in a branch of Subway just metres from the Wiltshire Police headquarters.
He was also a member of a gym in the area, locals said.
Last night, Kupiec's girlfriend Jenny Stickley, 20, spoke of her heartbreak at his arrest.
She wrote on Facebook : “That’s my partner and I love him. He would never harm a fly.
“Don’t worry Lucas I’m doing everything in my power to prove your innocence."
Jenny's devastated mum told how the couple have been dating for three-and-a-half years and were engaged at one stage.
Kupiec enjoyed Christmas dinner at the Jenny’s family home.
'Lucas told us his parents were killed in a car crash and he has one brother in Poland who he doesn’t like.
“I was shocked when the police came round to my house asking about him.'
A Wiltshire Police spokesman told Mirror UK: “At 7.50pm on 13 January 2016 Wiltshire Police officers executed an arrest warrant on behalf of Interpol.
“They attended Subway, in London Road, Devizes, and arrested a 28-year-old Polish man in connection with an investigation into a murder in Poland.
“He is in custody and is being dealt with by Interpol.”
The International Police Crime Organisation’s (Interpol) list of most wanted criminals said he was wanted for “injury causing death/manslaughter/murder’ as well as ‘assault/maltreatement’ and theft.
