New official promises to ensure road safety during ember months

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is going all out to ensure that motorists survive the ember months.

Road Safety

According to Mr Shehu Zaki, the new Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC)  Zonal Commander for Lagos and Ogun, his priority is the safety of all motorists.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Zaki said the agency would ensure road safety by increasing personnel visibility and enforcement.

“We would also increase our road safety public enlightenment to ensure that motorists comply with rules and drive safely during the ember months and beyond,’’ he said.

The new zonal commander also revealed his plans to reduce accidents and fatalities.

He said this plan was focused on creating better understanding between the FRSC and motorists, adding that this is his top priority.

“My main vision as the new Commanding Officer is to win more understanding between the FRSC and stakeholders in the zone in order to achieve our strategic goal of reducing crashes and fatalities.

We want motorists to see our personnel as their friends. We want them to comply with the rules.

We want them to patiently stop and respond to our officers on patrol when flagged down.

I want motorists to change their opinion about FRSC whenever they are on the road; the corps is not only about enforcement or fine, but to educate and correct traffic abuses.

With this better relationship, we can together reduce accidents and address other issues on our roads in the zone,” he said.

Zaki's plan also includes;
